The North American division of ESL Pro League Season 7 has concluded with the top six teams making it to the finals in Dallas.
After two-and-a-half months of action, the seventh ESL Pro League season has now come to an end. The North American division saw twelve teams (two less than the EU division) fighting for six spots at the finals in Dallas, Texas, which is set to take place on May 14-20.
The biggest speculation in season 7 has surrounded SK in regards of whether or not the team would secure a top six spot after lackluster results since the start of 2018. As a result, Epitacio "TACO" de Melo stepped down to join Liquid as Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and co. then linked up with former Cloud9 member and Major champion Jake "Stewie2K" Yip. The addition paid off for SK, who made it into the finals by the skin of their teeth, securing the sixth and final spot with two points over Rogue, who cut their chances short in several series splits in the final week.
Finishing in the top spot of the league with 60 points, Liquid clinched their ticket to the finals after OpTic decided to forfeit their remaining two matches due to latency issues, with the all-Danish lineup now in Denmark after recently signing Jakob "JUGi" Hansen and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer. The decision to forfeit the remaining two games didn’t matter to either party as the Green Wall secured their third-place in the standings for a spot in Dallas.
NRG finished as runner-ups grabbing their final points over Luminosity, securing their fourth finals appearance in a row. Cloud9 grabbed the fourth spot over Renegades due to head-to-head record.
At the bottom of the standings are Complexity and Splyce, who will be fighting for an ESL Pro League Season 8 spot through relegation, while Dignitas are automatically demoted to MDL Season 28.
